Calendula is a traditional cottage garden flower and culinary herb, which has recently become a popular choice for bedding displays. Colours range from yellow to orange, and forms from simple semi-double to fully double with prominently crested centres.
Calendula ‘Fiesta Gitana’ is a dwarf calendula which flowers earlier than the species. The semi-double flowers are yellow or orange. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
For best results, grow Calendula ‘Fiesta Gitana’ in light, nutrient-poor, free-draining soil in sun or partial shade. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering and pinch out shoots to encourage bushy growth.
